THE STORY BEHIND HATS ON
Hats On began with a chance collaboration between acclaimed songwriter Geoff Morrow and singer-songwriter Claire Barrett. That first creative spark led to a wider project built around great voices, memorable songs and a relaxed, personality-led approach to making music.

GEOFF MORROW — THE MAN BEHIND THE MUSIC
Geoff Morrow has spent more than six decades writing, producing and developing music, with songs recorded by some of the biggest names in the industry.
His work has been recorded by Elvis Presley, The Carpenters, Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathis, Sandie Shaw and Jessie J. Together with songwriting partners Chris Arnold and David Martin, Geoff also wrote four songs for Elvis Presley between 1969 and 1973. The team later wrote “Can’t Smile Without You”, which became one of Barry Manilow’s best-known songs.
Geoff’s career has extended far beyond songwriting. He established Geoff Morrow Music, worked in record production, and has been involved in theatre, film and musical productions throughout his career.
More recently, Geoff teamed up with songwriter Claire Barrett to create TikTok Do Your Thing. The idea was inspired by the viral “TikTok, do your thing” phenomenon — videos where people turn to the TikTok community to help find someone they have seen, met or missed the opportunity to approach.
That idea led to the creation of Hats On and a new chapter for Geoff: combining his decades of songwriting experience with a modern, social-media-led concept designed for a new generation of listeners.
TikTok Do Your Thing is intended to be just the beginning, with more original music planned for Hats On.

CLAIRE BARRETT — WHERE IT ALL STARTED
When Claire Barrett set out to reignite her passion for songwriting after years away from the industry— and the arrival of a baby—she turned to a mutual friend, who introduced her to veteran songwriter Geoff. Eager to tap into his experience, the two met for coffee, where Geoff shared insights from his successful career.
Their conversation soon drifted toward how both the music industry and everyday life had evolved, particularly in the digital age. They laughed about the modern reality of finding love on social media, which led Claire to mention a viral TikTok trend, #TikTokDoYourThing. The trend will see people posting videos of strangers they had crossed paths with but hadn’t managed to exchange contact details with, hoping the online community could help track them down.
Intrigued, Geoff’s creative instincts kicked in. His eyes lit up as he turned to Claire and said, “Let’s get into the studio.” And just like that, a song was born.
THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING
Hats On has more music on the way, with new tracks planned for release and plenty more still to come from the band. Future releases will be available on Spotify and other major streaming platforms, so there will be lots more to listen to, share and enjoy.
